Her work emphasises the development of individual and family responsibility, the importance of independent institutions and the limitations of state intervention.<\/p>\n<p>From 2007 \u2013 2011 Jill was Director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cps.org.uk\/\">Centre for Policy Studies,<\/a> the independent centre-right think tank. She previously chaired the Centre\u2019s family and welfare policy group and published a <a title=\"Reports\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jillkirby.org\/reports\/\">series of reports<\/a>. She served as a member of the Conservative <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hm-treasury.gov.uk\/foi_taxreformcom_2006.htm\">Tax Reform Commission<\/a>, appointed by George Osborne to examine the case for a fairer, flatter tax system. From 2001 to 2003 she was a Consultant to Renewing One Nation, the social affairs unit at Conservative Central Office.<\/p>\n<p>Jill takes part in various current affairs programmes, in particular as a panellist on BBC One&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b006t1q9\">Question Time<\/a> and Radio 4&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b006qk11\">The Moral Maze<\/a>.
